Filming

We have now begun filming our 'kiss you' music video. We are filming each stage, in order of the song lyrics. We have the song playing in the background whilst filming each shot, to give us effective lip-syncing. Once filming is complete we will then edit the shots together to make sure they're in sync with the music.

Apologies for the poor quality!

QR code

In order to make the CD back cover professional and industry realistic, we thought it was necessary to include a QR code, as this feature is a form of advertising, compatible with smart phone devices and tablets etc. This promotes our band further by developing a greater awareness online.

We made this by going on to our school website and going into 'curriculum' - 'T&L' - 'Web Tools' and then into the 'QR link'. For the QR code to link with the official One Direction website, we needed to copy the URL code onto the website. The print screen demonstrates how we did this.

CD back cover work

For our CD back cover we included various conventions that you would typically see on a CD single. Such things as follows:

-QR code
-Band name
-Single name
-CD spine
-Bar Code
-Itunes logo
-Record label
-Image

This is our first attempt at a CD back cover. Alterations and additions will need to be made, but it's a start.

CD Insert work

We began our work on the CD Insert and back cover by copying the One Direction- Kiss you lyrics onto the CD insert; as demonstrated on the image. Our plan is to take a photo (not the album cover) and stretch the image across both insert pages, and place it in the background behind the lyrics.

CD cover/ back cover

Today we will begin to create an Insert cover and back cover for the band One Direction. We will use a photograph of our group in place of the band members in one direction, as copyright isn't allowed within the final task. We will experiment by taking various photo's that suit the 'pop genre'. Typically, album covers of bands, in particular 'pop bands' usually display the band members on the front of the album cover. In order to suit the conventions of a pop genre, we will incorporate the same styles within our own work.

Magazine advert contents

The following are what are typically found in a magazine band/song advertisement, and will need to be included within our own:

- Accolades/ awards
- QR code
- Band name
- Release date
- Single name
- Website link
- Itunes logo
- Portrait
- Review (NME)
- Record label

The song

In discussion with the group, we each put forward a song of our choice, in order for us all to decide on one to make a music video too. The four songs we initially choose were:

Empire of the Sun- Walking on a Dream

One Direction- Kiss you

The Drums- Let's go Surfing

Bruno Mars- Treasure

After many fall outs and endless disagreements... we all finally came to a mutual agreement that One Direction- Kiss you, would be the song we make a music video too!

Why create a practice piece?

Creating our practice piece will give us a head start into the course. We will get the chance to create a music video like what we will complete for our final A2 piece. Doing so will give us an advantage, as it's an opportunity to try out initial ideas and get a general idea of filming music videos and the promotion behind them. Our practice piece will consist of an advert promotion for the band/ song of our choice; creation of a CD cover and our own take on filming a music video. In evaluation, we will be able to analyse the pro's and con's of our practice piece; build on our initial ideas and make our final A2 piece even better!

Example: Arctic Monkeys

The Team!

Following on from our AS work, I will be continuing to work in the same group, with the same group members that I worked with to complete our thriller opening sequences. Those members are:
Georgia Tooby,
Olly Law &
Jem Akpinar.

We decided to work together again for the practice piece as personally I feel that the group worked and cooperated well with tasks previously this year. Good organisation and planning were achieved throughout every stage of the course, along with effective decision making; ensuring we were successful in our task to the best of our ability.

The Team!
